Top 10 Moments: #9 - Diamonds Sparkle on the Dance Floor and in the Classroom

The St Joseph’s College dance team, had a memorable 2012-13 year in and out of the classroom. The Diamonds posted the highest team grade-point average of all the athletic teams for the Fall and Spring terms, while also accumulating the highest overall scores for the past school year.

Despite being a club team, the Diamonds practice and perform throughout the year and collectively maintained term GPAs of over 3.6 in both semesters. In addition, seven of eight Diamonds earned Dean's List honors in the spring with two achieving perfect 4.0 GPAs.

The dance team edged out the women's tennis team in the fall semester and the women's volleyball team in the spring semester for highest GPA honors. An honorable mention should be given to all the Brooklyn student-athletes who produced over a combined 3.2 GPA in each semester, one of the best academic performances in SJC history.

The Diamonds, who are coached by SJC alumnae Nicola O’Connor and Kelly Hartney, perform at all home men’s and women’s basketball games and dance at other school events. During this year’s awards night ceremony, senior Danielle Endes was one of two seniors to be presented with the Academic Excellence Award.

The Diamonds also performed at the Barclays Center this past January during halftime of the women's basketball game vs. Albertus Magnus.
