Top 10 Moments: #3 – First Postseason Win Caps 29-Win Baseball Season

Making their second straight appearance in the USCAA Small College World Series, the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) baseball team carried in a 28-9 record and entered as the tournament's No. 6 seed pitted against the 2013 tournament runner up, No. 3 Penn State Greater Allegheny, who also eliminated the Bears in their first postseason appearance.

After surrendering an early run in the second inning of the opening round game, the Bears defense held the game to just one run through four before posting two runs in the fifth to take the lead for good.

In the sixth, a homer from USCAA Second Team All-American Joe Mendez, his team-leading 11th of the season, put the Bears up 3-1 and started a four-run frame capped by back-to-back Francis Rapp and Michael Camerada singles that gave St. Joseph's a commanding 6-1 lead.

Fellow USCAA Second Team All-American Chris Cutrone would go the distance on the mound to clinch St. Joseph's first postseason victory, striking out seven and allowing just two runs in the 7-2 triumph.

The Bears were held to just two hits by No. 2 Lindenwood-Belleville in their next game, suffering their first loss of the double elimination tournament.

In their elimination round game vs. No. 8 Victory, the Bears carried a 6-5 lead headed into the final inning, powered by a pair of three-run home runs from Thomas McKenna, but couldn't hold off Victory in the seventh who scored three runs in the top half of the frame to hand the Bears an 8-6 defeat.

The Bears would end their season with a 29-11 overall record, their second straight 20-win season, also setting a new program record for wins in a season.
