St. Joseph's Places 19 Student-Athletes on HVIAC Fall All-Academic Team
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Nineteen student-athletes from St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) were honored by the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) as members of its Fall All-Academic Team in recognition of their academic achievements during the Fall semester.
The All-Academic Team consists of student-athletes who have reached sophomore academic standing and have earned a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or better at the conclusion of the fall semester, and participate in one of the conference's fall sports – men’s soccer, men’s cross country, women’s soccer, women’s tennis, women’s volleyball and women’s cross country.
The Athletic Department would like to congratulate the following Bears and Lady Bears who received HVIAC All-Academic honors for the Fall semester:

Carbone, a sophomore who also received USCAA All-Academic honors, led the women’s volleyball team with 337 digs and contributed 57 kills and 37 service aces on her way to being named to the Second Team AD3I All-Independent Volleyball Team. She also appeared in three games for the women’s soccer team making two starts.
Conter, a junior, appeared in all five races for St. Joseph’s with her season-best finish coming at the CSI Invitational where she finished in 55th place with a time of 30:24. Conter set a new personal best with her time of 27:42 on the 5k course at the HVIAC Championships. Conter was an HVIAC All-Academic selection a year ago and was named to the USCAA All-Academic Team this year.
D’Chiutiis, a junior, made an appearance in all five meets for the Lady Bears in her rookie season with the team. The junior set a career-best 5k time of 27:03 at the season-ending HVIAC Championships resulting in a 56th place finish. D’Chiutiis is named to the USCAA and HVIAC All-Academic Teams for the first time in her career.
Duffy, a senior, played in all 15 games for the Lady Bears playing primarily on defense in her lone season with St. Joseph’s. The defender was also named to the USCAA women’s soccer All-Academic Team.
Fuentes, a junior, appeared in nine games making nine starts on defense for the Bears. The junior is now a two-time winner of the accolade and has also been named to the USCAA All-Academic Team twice.
Kelly, a sophomore, appeared in 13 games for St. Joseph’s making 10 starts. The USCAA All-Academic Team selection recorded two goals on the year with both coming against Medgar Evers. Kelly finished the season with seven shots.
LoBosco, a junior, participated in eight matches primarily between No. 1 and No. 2 singles, recording her lone win of the season versus Vaughn College at No. 1 singles. The USCAA All-Academic selection also netted three doubles wins at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Maloy, a junior, is tabbed to the HVIAC All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year and made 12 appearances at defense for the Lady Bears, helping lead St. Joseph’s with her outstanding defensive play. Maloy is also a two-time USCAA All-Academic Team recipient.
Mendez, a senior, ran in all five races for St. Joseph’s this season with his best result coming at the HVIAC Championships where he turned in a 43rd place finish with a career-best mark of 37:07 on the 8k course. Mendez is now a two-time recipient of the award and was named to the USCAA National All-Academic Team.
Milazzo, a senior, was the first Bear across the finish line in all five races this season, concluding his career with a personal-best time of 27:41 on an 8k course at the HVIAC Championships good for a season-best 6th place finish. The HVIAC All-Conference Team selection was also named to the USCAA All-Academic Team.
Moncino, a junior, appeared in all 22 matches and finished second on the team with 262 digs. Moncino recorded 91 kills and led St. Joseph’s with 51 service aces. The HVIAC All-Conference Team and All-Independent Second Team selection had a career-high nine kills in the Lady Bears straight-set win over Yeshiva. Moncino earns HVIAC Fall All-Academic Team honors for the second consecutive year and was also named to the USCAA National All-Academic Team earlier this year.
Moore, a senior, appeared in three races for St. Joseph’s which included a 49th place finish at the season-ending HVIAC Championships where he posted a career-best time of 46:42. Last year’s AD3I All-Academic selection was also named to the USCAA All-Academic Team this year and is a repeat recipient of the HVIAC All-Academic award.
Moran, a senior, ranked second on the team in kills (257), blocks (24.0) and points (311.0). The HVIAC All-Conference Team recipient and All-Independent Honorable Mention nominee finished her Lady Bears career with seven straight matches with double-digit kills including a career-high 20 along with 19 digs at Brooklyn College. The senior earns All-Academic honors from the HVIAC for the first time in her career but was named to the USCAA All-Academic Team this year and the AD3I All-Academic Team a year ago.
Nasta, a sophomore, concluded the season playing in eight matches finishing with one kill and seven assists.
Parr, a sophomore, earns the All-Academic accolade in his first year of eligibility. The USCAA All-Academic selection appeared in and started in eight games for St. Joseph’s recording two shots.
Randazzo, a sophomore, earns All-Academic honors in her first year of eligibility after appearing in 11 games for the Lady Bears.
Rushin, a sophomore, appeared in all five races for the Bears and placed second on the team in each of the meets. The AD3I All-Independent Second Team selection ran a career-best time of 19:28 in the 5k at the CSI Invitational.
Urshela, a junior, appeared in two races for the Bears posting a time of 52:53 on the 8k course at the season-opening CSI Development Meet. Also a stalwart on the men’s soccer team, the USCAA All-Academic Team nominee started in 13 games for St. Joseph’s at forward leading the team with eight goals and 16 points on the season. The forward led the Bears with 25 shots on goal and had two game-winning goals for St. Joseph’s.
Uwadiegwu, a senior, appeared in one singles match at No. 6 singles and one doubles match at No. 3 doubles.
