Maloney's "I Got Lucky Presentation" Impresses Sound Decision Making To The Bears

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — On Monday, September 19th, Scott Maloney shared his powerful and moving story with the SJC student body about how his life was changed forever after one poor decision made after a night of drinking.

The event was sponsored by the Department of Athletics and open to the entire student body.

"I'd like to thank Scott for coming to share his powerful story," remarked Director of Athletics and Recreation James Lally. "SJC is dedicated to providing our students with educational and development opportunities to enhance their collegiate experiences, ensuring that safety and proper decision making are at the forefront of programming and services."

The event, which was mandatory for the Brooklyn student-athletes, is the first of several events planned by the Department of Athletics for the upcoming year geared toward a well-rounded development of the student-athlete, outside of the playing field and the classroom.

Overall, the presentation was well-received by the students. "My experience listening to Scott was very eye opening and quite surprising. I expected the usual lecture about the dangers of drinking and driving. However, his story was different," commented  Alec Willis, a junior captain on the men's basketball team. "It was very moving and I have grown from the experience to have a new found perspective on some of the other dangers of irresponsible drinking, while also understanding the importance of family in times of distress and need.
