Twenty Student-Athletes Receive HVIAC Winter/Spring All-Academic Honors
NEW YORK – Twenty St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) student-athletes were recognized by the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) as members of the 2014 Winter/Spring All-Academic Team, as announced earlier today by the conference.
St. Joseph's was well represented, placing the second-most student athletes on the 90-person team, out of the 10 institutions represented. Additionally, five were All-Conference Team members in their respective sports – Haley Betancourt (women's swimming), David Louison (men's basketball), Michael Megafu (men's basketball), Megan Moran (women's basketball) and Raul Urshela (men's volleyball) – and 11 were repeat honorees.
In total, 39 SJC student-athletes received All-Academic honors for the 2013-14 season, the third highest total out of the 12-member league.
The All-Academic Team consists of student-athletes who have reached sophomore academic standing and have earned a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or better at the conclusion of the spring semester, and participate in one of the conference’s winter or spring sports – men's and women's basketball, women's swimming, men's volleyball, men's tennis, softball and baseball.
