BROOKLYN, N.Y.—The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) athletic department concluded the 2014-15 season celebrating the first Athletic Awards Night at The Hill Center on Monday evening in front of a crowd of over 250 student-athletes, coaches, administrators and fans.

Seniors David Louison and Samantha Retas nabbed the top departmental honors named Student-Athletes of the Year. Louison, a Capital One First Team Academic All-America and USCAA First Team All-American, received numerous accolades over his senior campaign that helped lead the men's basketball team back to the USCAA National Championships. Retas, a USCAA Second Team All-American, earned HVIAC Tournament MVP honors in leading the women's basketball team to the HVIAC title and a berth in the USCAA National Championships.

Several new honors were awarded as TC Huen was selected as Coach of the Year for his outstanding effort in developing the men's and women's tennis programs. Freshmen Beka Goduadze and Destiny Marino were named Rookies of the Year. Goduadze guided the men's soccer team to their first .500 season and HVIAC playoff berth in team history scoring a team-high 11 goals. Marino made an immediate impact on the women's soccer, basketball and softball teams, earning a starting role on each squad and received HVIAC Co-Rookie of the Year honors on the hardwood.

Associate Vice President of Alumni Relations Mary Jo Chiara conferred the Alumni Athletic Achievement Award to seniors Raul Urshela and Jennifer Moncino. Urshela had a profound impact on the men's soccer and volleyball teams, graduating as the Bears record holder in numerous categories in both sports and leading both squads to their most successful seasons. Moncino was an integral player on the women's volleyball and swimming teams and was a two-time All-AD3I honoree in her junior and senior seasons. Both were outstanding in the classroom maintaining high GPAs and receiving All-Academic honors throughout their careers.

Academic Excellence Awards were presented to Michael Megafu and Victoria LoBosco. Megafu was named a USCAA Second Team All-American for the second straight year in helping the men's basketball team to the USCAA National Championships and received All-Academic Team honors maintaining a high GPA as a biology major. LoBosco boasted a perfect GPA during her playing season and was selected to the All-HVIAC team for the second straight year helping the women's tennis team to runner up honors at the HVIAC Tournament, their best finish ever.

Erica Eddy was presented the Sports Medicine Recognition Award for her diligence, dedication and determination in overcoming adversity from a serious knee injury and making a successful return to the women's basketball and softball teams.

Junior Shannon Fahy was presented the Outstanding Service Award for her commitment and dedication as a student worker in the Athletic Department.
