THROGGS NECK, N.Y. -- Have a day, Joe Mendez.

The St. Joseph's-Brooklyn senior slugger blasted four home runs Saturday to become the school's all-time career leader as the Bears swept SUNY Maritime, 19-5 and 7-6.

Mendez, a Monsignor Farrell product, hit three blasts in the opener, including a sixth-inning grand-slam that broke open the game.

He finished the twinbill by going 4-for-5 with 11 RBI and five runs scored. He now has 14 career homers to surpass Kevin Diaz's previous mark of 13.

Another senior, Mike Cundari (St. Peter's) became the third St. Joseph's player to reach the 100-run milestone with a five-run output. He walked four times in the opener.

The Bears improved to 9-6, winning eight of their last 10 games.
