As a Sophomore: Played and started in 24 games ... Was the Bears' number one catcher but also saw time at third base, second base and as the designated hitter ... Ranked third on the team in batting average (.350), slugging percentage (.500) and runs scored (24) ... Ranked fourth on the team in on base percentage (.436) ... Also had 28 hits, 15 RBI and tied for the lead with seven doubles on the year ... His ten game hitting streak was the longest on the team ... Mendez had a season high three RBI in a game on March 18th against John Jay ... Named to the AD3I Second Team All-Independent.

As a Freshman: Only Bear to play in all 33 games, starting each game primarily as a DH and catcher... Named 2009 AD3I Co-Rookie of the Year and named to the AD3I All-Independent Second Team... Received AD3I Player of the Week honors on April 20 and USCAA Player of the Week honors on April 21... Batted .345 in the number three spot...
