Harten Named USCAA Baseball Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – After recording one of the most prolific games in St. Joseph's College Baseball history, sophomore outfielder Joe Harten (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week for games ending March 7, 2010.

The Moore Catholic product who transferred from Molloy College, launched his career with the Bears in impressive fashion.  In the first game of the Bears season opener against Mount Saint Vincent, Harten went 5-for-5, jacking three home runs, including a grand slam, driving in nine runs, scoring three, with a double and a stolen base, setting new single game records in home runs, RBI and total bases (15) and tying the mark for hits.

For the twin bill, Harten compiled a 3.000 slugging pct, and a perfect 1.000 batting average and 1.000 on-base percentage.  In the field, he was also perfect in four chances.

Harten is the second player in St. Joseph's history to receive the honor, Jon Mendez (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) earning the accolade last season.
