Cundari Recognized as USCAA and AD3I Baseball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Recognizing his outstanding performance at the plate in helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) baseball team to a sweep over Maritime improving on the Bears best start in school history, Mike Cundari (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Co-Player of the Week and  the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player of the Week for the week ending March 10th.

The junior first baseman was the leading run producer for St. Joseph's over the weekend helping the Bears improve their best start in school history to 5-0 and extended their winning streak dating back to last season to nine games. Cundari batted 4-for-8 (.500) with two home runs and drove in a team-high six RBI while scoring five runs. The junior has reached base safely in his last 21 games dating back to last season. Cundari now has team-highs in RBI and runs scored with ten and eight and is hitting .412 (7-for-17) with a 1.000 slugging percentage.

The 2011 and 2012 AD3I All-Independent Second Team honoree earns the Player of the Week accolades for the first time in his career. Cundari is the second Bear to gain recognition for his play this season following Danny Zaretsky (Brooklyn, NY/Lincoln) who was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week last week.

St. Joseph's continues their 16-game roadstand when they travel to the Bronx for a doubleheader against Lehman College on March 16th with first pitch set for noon.
