Mendez Takes Home USCAA and AD3I Baseball Player of the Week Honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Bears junior outfielder Joe Mendez (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) continued his outstanding season this week and has been named Baseball Player of the Week by both the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and Association of Independents (AD3I).

The rightfielder was the leading run producer for the team this week totaling eight RBI along with seven runs scored, a home run and four doubles while batting .370. The junior, who leads the team in RBI this season with 39, also became the first Bear in school history to drive in 100 career runs when he accomplished the feat this week against SUNYIT.

This is the first USCAA Player of the Week honor for Mendez who will look to continue his outstanding season in the upcoming USCAA tournament which begins on May 6th in Butler, PA. Mendez has won back-to-back Player of the Week honors from AD3I.

Next up for the Bears is a road contest against Lehman College this Friday, May 3rd with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.
