Cutrone Recognized as AD3I Baseball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Recognizing his outstanding performance on the mound in helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) to a victory over SUNYIT on Sunday, junior Chris Cutrone (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees HS) has been named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Baseball Player of the Week.

Cutrone pitched a gem for St. Joseph's in their final game of the week against the Wildcats. The second baseman/pitcher pitched a complete game shutout, scattering seven hits and finished with three strikeouts to finish on the winning end of the first 1-0 shutout victory in the Bears seven-year history.

The junior also contributed at the dish, hitting .250 (4-for-16) with five runs scored and three RBIs as St. Joseph's went 4-2 on the week. Cutrone is now 2-1 on the season with a 4.12 ERA in 19 2/3 innings and is batting .290 on the year with five RBIs.

The two-time AD3I All-Independent First Team selection has now earned Player of the Week honors from the Association for the third time in his career and follows teammate Mike Cundari (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's) who took home the honor on February 25th.

St. Joseph's (7-6) returns to the field this Saturday, March 29th for a road doubleheader against Maritime beginning at 11 a.m.
