Cutrone Earns Weekly Accolades From USCAA and AD3I

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Junior Chris Cutrone (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees HS) was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Pitcher of the Week and the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) baseball Player of the Week after helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) baseball team to a win over SUNY-Canton on Saturday with a dominating performance on the mound.

Cutrone pitched another gem for St. Joseph's, this time one of the 10-inning variety against the Roos on Saturday. The ten innings were the most ever pitched by a Bear and was the righthander's second complete game of the season. The junior was lights out surrendering only one run on eight hits, while striking out five to help the Bears secure a 2-1 walk-off win against their USCAA counterparts.

Despite throwing 123 pitches on the day, the second baseman/pitcher did not allow a Roo to reach base in each of the last four innings to keep St. Joseph's in the game. Cutrone also contributed at the plate, going 5-for-10 with two runs and an RBI on the week as the Bears went 2-1. The junior improves to 4-1 on the mound this season and has a 3.63 ERA.

Cutrone takes home USCAA honors for the first time this season but won the accolade in his freshman year. The now two-time recipient of the AD3I award joins teammates Mike Cundari (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's) and Joe Mendez (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) as the lone winners of the weekly award given out by AD3I.

St. Joseph's (11-7) returns to the field on Wednesday, April 9th as they host Staten Island for a 4:15 p.m. first pitch at MCU Park.
