Rapp Named to USCAA Small College World Series All-Tournament Team

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) freshman shortstop Francis Rapp (Baldwin, N.Y./Oceanside) was named to the 2014 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Small College World Series All-Tournament Team announced at the conclusion of the today's championship.

Rapp batted .778 (7-for-9) over the tournament and along with Michael Camerada (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) were the only two Bears to record a hit in all three games. The rookie scored four runs, drove in a RBI, stole a base and was perfect in six chances defensively.

Rapp and Camerada carry a team-best eight-game hitting streak into the start of next season.

The Bears (29-11) made their second postseason appearance in school history and finished tied for fifth place in the double-elimination tournament, upsetting last year's tournament runner up, Penn State Greater Allegheny, in the opening round before falling to the eventual national champions, Lindenwood University Belleville, and succumbing to a last-inning rally from Victory University in the elimination bracket.

Second-seeded Lindenwood captured their first national championship going undefeated for the tournament and defeating top-seeded University of Cincinnati-Clermont, 15-2 in today's title game.
