Cutrone Secures AD3I Player of the Week and D3Baseball.com Team of the Week Honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—One of the hottest hitters in the Bears lineup, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) senior Chris Cutrone (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees H.S.) was awarded the Association of Division III (AD3I) Independents baseball Player of the Week and was also named to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week for his great play on the diamond the past week.

Cutrone had an impressive week at the plate for the Bears, hitting .583 (14-for-24) with four runs scored and three runs batted in over six games. The senior connected on the go-ahead two-run double as St. Joseph's defeated NYU on April 10th. In a doubleheader split with NYU on April 11th, he totaled six hits, including a 4-for-4 outing in game one, with three runs and an RBI. During a twin bill with Staten Island, Cutrone added three hits and extended his hitting streak to a team season-high-tying 12 games with a double.

This is the fourth time Cutrone has earned the AD3I Player of the Week, last winning the accolade on April 29, 2014. He joins Rosario DiLorenzo (Howard Beach, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) as the second St. Joseph's player to win Player of the Week this season. He earns his first D3Baseball.com Team of the Week nomination in his career and is the first Bear this season to be named to the Team of the Week.

The Bears (11-14) will next go on the road to take on Maritime on Wednesday in the rubber match of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Throggs Neck, N.Y.
