The Bear Facts

  • Winners of three of their last four at home last weekend, the Bears look for a strong showing closing out a five-game home stand before opening Skyline Conference play on Saturday at Maritime.
  • The Bears and Bearcats have exchanged wins over the last four meetings with SJC taking a 13-5 victory last May at Preller Field to split the 2015 series at 1-1. Brian Luebcke and Michael Camerada both had 2-for-5 days at the plate as nine different Bears knocked a hit in the 14-hit outburst.
  • Launching home runs in three consecutive games last week and slugging 1.000, senior Brian Luebcke as named Skyline Player of the Week for the second time on Monday. Knocking seven hits on the week and driving in 11 RBI last week, he became the 10th member of the SJC 100-hit club on Sat. Luebcke has hit in all but one game and reached base successfully in all 15 games.
  • After tossing a four-hit, eight-strikeout gem against UMPI, Rosario DiLorenzo received Skyline honor roll recognition. The senior moved into a tie for 2nd all-time with his 12th complete game and improved to 2-2 on the mound.
  • Junior Michael Camerada (6-for-15, 4 RBI, 5 R) and freshman John Condon (7-for-18, 3 RBI) also had a solid week at the dish. Camerada lifted his average to a team second-best .404 while Condon is working on an active team-high six-game hitting streak.

Bearcats on the Prowl

  • Baruch looks to snap a two-game skid and enters on a 9-3 loss to NJCU on Tuesday. The Bearcats will be playing their eighth game against Skyline competition holding a 3-4 record with a sweep of Mount Saint Mary and a nine-inning, 2-1 win over Old Westbury last week. Baruch also dropped a doubleheader to Old Westbury to open the season.
  • 2015 First-Team CUNY All-Star Cameron Kitt leads the pitching staff with 16 strikeouts and an 0.96 ERA, but a 1-2 record with only 2 of his 10 runs coming unearned
  • Jasdeep Buttar leads the offense with a team-leading 17 hits (6 extra bases) and .340 average. Matthew Ballone is the top run producer with 12 RBI and the lone Bearcat home run and five doubles.
