The Bear Facts

  • The Bears maintain a level .500 record and currently sit just outside Skyline Tournament position in seventh place, but are only a half game behind fifth and sixth one game behind fourth place.
  • St. Joseph's wrapped up non-conference play with a 9-4 triumph over John Jay and a 3-1 and 5-1 doubleheader sweep of NYU, avenging the early season loss. Sean O'Melia (7.2 IP, 7 K, 4 ER), Anthony Amatuzzi (7.0 IP, 1 ER, 2 K) and Thomas Pallatto (5.0 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, SO) all had strong starts on the mound and notched their first wins of the season.
  • Entering the week, the Bears led the Skyline in batting average, slugging percentage, home runs and fewest walks allowed per nine innings.
  • After tossing a four-hit shutout on Sunday vs. Purchase improving to 4-1 on the hill, Brian Luebcke was named the Skyline Co-Pitcher of the Week, his fourth weekly award collected this season. The senior needs just one more strikeout to be the sixth Bear to register 100 K's. At the dish, he also leads the Skyline in slugging (.687), home runs (6), RBI (41), doubles (14), total bases (79) and sacrifice flies (5).
  • Extending his reached base safely streak to 13 games, Connor Pasetti leads the team in on base percentage (.488) and ranks second batting .349 average.
  • Michael Camerada ranks second in slugging (.579) with 11 extra base hits and is the third leading run producer with 22 RBI and second run scorer with 26. Nicholas LoPrinzi has driven in a team-second-best 24 RBI.

Behind the Horns

  • The Rams enter the game tied for first atop the Skyline standings with an 8-2 record suffering their only losses in splits with SJC Long Island and Mount Saint Vincent and holding sweeps of Old Westbury, Yeshiva and Purchase.
  • David Otero Jr. is the reigning Co-Pitcher of the Week compiling a 3-0 record last week out of the bullpen, tossing seven scoreless innings holding batters to a .048 batting average while striking out nine.
  • Matt Seeinger has four starts on the mound and a 3-1 record with 3.60 ERA and 36 K's over 35 innings.
  • Freshman outfielder Nick Attardi leads the team with a .385 average and is a three-time Rookie of the Week selection. The lefty finds his way on base with a .505 on base percentage drawing 19 walks and is 11-of-16 in stolen base attempts.
