NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Senior Brian Luebcke (Astoria, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) became the second fastest Bear to strikeout 100 batters and junior Michael Camerada (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) highlighted a five-hit day with a home run for his 100th career hit as the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) baseball team remained in contention for a  Skyline Conference Tournament berth with a road doubleheader sweep over The College of Mount Saint Vincent on Sunday afternoon. Junior Nicholas LoPrinzi (Howard Beach, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) also knocked five hits and drove in four runs.

How it Happened in Game 1

  • The Bears wasted no time with a three-run top of the first. Connor Pasetti led off the game with a triple, extending his hitting streak to 11 games, and Francis Rapp's ensuing double brought him home. Nicholas LoPrinzi later delivered a two-RBI single to cap the inning.
  • Needing just one strikeout to join the exclusive 100-strikeout club, Brian Luebcke finished off a 1-2-3 first catching Matthew Nesensohn looking for the milestone K.
  • St. Joseph's added one to their lead in the third on Adam Schwartz's run-scoring double, then breaking the game open with two more in the fourth and three in the fifth. Starter Brian Luebcke helped his own cause with sacrifice fly and RBI single in the span.
  • Michael Camerada's RBI double highlighted a two-run sixth and Loprinzi's double plated one more in the seventh for good measure.
  • Mount Saint Vincent spoiled the shutout with a three-hit, two-run seventh, but it wasn't enough to avert the 10-run rule as the game ended after seven with Luebcke finishing the complete game .

How it Happened in Game 2

  • After St. Joseph's pushed across one unearned run in the third for the game's first run, Mount Saint Vincent slugged five hits and plated five in the bottom half. Brandon Pasquale highlighted the frame with a two-run triple.
  • But St. Joseph's struck back with four in the fourth inning to draw even. Thomas Pallatto cut the deficit in half with a two-run double, setting the table for Michael Camerada's two-run game-tying homer, his fifth of the season.
  • After surrendering two singles in the bottom half of the fourth, reliever Sean O'Melia wiggled out of the jam to keep it tied. In the fifth, the Bears manufactured one run to reclaim the lead. Brian Luebcke laced a one-out double to place himself in scoring position and force out starting pitcher Evan Brown. After Luebcke advanced to third on a wild pitch, Nicholas LoPrinzi delivered a go-ahead, two-out single up the middle.
  • Luebcke's sacrifice fly added an extra insurance run in the seventh as relievers Jonathan Schneider and Anthony Amatuzzi combined for the final four outs to complete the sweep.

For the Bears

  • Michael Camerada (5-for-7, HR, 4 RBI, 3 R, 2 2B) and Nicholas LoPrinzi (5-for-8, 4 RBI, R, 2B) produced team-highs in hits (5) and RBI (4) in the twinbill. Camerada also connected for the afternoon's only home run, moving him into a tie for third among the league leaders.
