Baseball Walks Off With Sweep of Mount Saint Vincent

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Powered by a pair of three-hitters by seniors Mitch Brigando (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) and Connor Pasetti (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside), the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) baseball team improved to 4-0 in Skyline Conference play with a doubleheader sweep of the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Sunday evening.

After a dominating 10-0 run-rule victory in game one, with Francis Rapp (Baldwin, N.Y./Oceanside) going 4-for-4. John Condon (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) delivered a bases-loaded single in the seventh of game two to give the Bears a 3-2 win for the sweep.

• The Bears got on the board first with a solo run in the second and three in the third—highlighted by a Jim Kennedy two-run double—for a 4-0 advantage. All four runs came unearned.
• St. Joseph's doubled up their lead in the sixth with four runs on three hits with RBI singles from Nicholas LoPrinzi and Francis Rapp. The Bears loaded the bases again in the seventh and a two run-RBI double from John Condon pushed the Bears over the run limit.

SJC Highlights – Game 1

• Mitch Brigando became the Bears career leader in shutouts going the distance, allowing just three hits, one walk, and striking out six for his third career shutout. He improved to 2-0 on the season on the mound.
• Francis Rapp went 4-for-4 at the plate, driving in two runs, scoring twice, and stealing one base.
• Nicholas LoPrinzi finished 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored. His single in the third was his 150th collegiate hit, becoming the sixth Bear to reach the milestone, doing so in 129 games and 430 at bats.
• John Condon (1-for-5, 2 R) and Jim Kennedy (1-for-2, 2 BB) both finished with two RBI. Kennedy's double in the third was one of two extra base hits in the contest for either squad.
• Michael Camerada (1-for-3, 2 R, BB) led off the sixth with a double to start the four-run frame.

• The Bears drew first blood with a solo run in the first off a sacrifice fly from LoPrinzi. The Dolphins came back to tie the game with an unearned run in the second.
• It remained a pitchers duel with Connor Pasetti surrendering just one hit and Mount Saint Vincent starter Evan Brown working on a two-hitter after five innings.
• The Bears took a 2-1 lead in the fourth, Kennedy getting hit by a pitch, later advancing to third on a balk and scoring on a wild pitch.
• The Dolphins tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth reaching Pasetti for two hits and scoring one run, but he came back to strike out the final five batters he faced to go the distance.
• A one-out double from Kevin Linitz in the seventh set the stage for the walk off and the Bears eventually loaded the bases for Condon to blast a ball through the left side of the infield to bring home Linitz.

• Connor Pasetti fell one shy of his career best with nine strikeouts, surrendering two runs (one earned), three hits and two walks going the distance to improve to 3-0 on the season.
• John Condon batted 2-for-4 with a RBI, the only batter with multiple hits in the nightcap.
• Kevin Linitz (1-for-2, 2B, 2 BB) scored twice, stole one base and hit the only extra base hit for the Bears.
• Francis Rapp (1-for-2, BB) and  Adam Schwartz (1-for-3) collected the other hits .

• St. Joseph's has won eight straight over Mount Saint Vincent and improves to 8-2 in the all-time series.
• It is the 12th walk-off win in program history.
• The Bears currently sit in a tie for first place in the Skyline Conference with Maritime College at 4-0.
