Watters Named Skyline Baseball Rookie of the Week; Condon Lands on Honor Roll

NEW YORK — After picking up his first collegiate victory on the mound, freshman Andrew Watters (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) has been selected as the Skyline Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office earlier today.

Watters tossed six innings of one-hit ball in last Thursday's 15-1 victory over John Jay at home. Striking out five and walking three, his lone run allowed scored unearned as he led off a combined two-hitter—only the second nine-inning two-hitter in Bears history.

The rookie of the week honor is the first for Watters and second collected by a Bear this season (Andrew Linitz, March 6).

Also receiving recognition for a strong effort last week was sophomore John Condon (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) who earned a spot on the league's honor roll compiling three multi-hit games, batting .688 (11-for-16) and slugging 1.000. He drove in seven runs and scored twice over the four-game stretch.

Currently on a two-game hitting streak, the Bears (11-13) host Baruch College today at 4 p.m. looking to split the season series with the Bearcats taking a 4-3 decision three weeks ago.
