Rapp Knocks Six Hits as Baseball Wins Third Straight Downing Baruch

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — With a 6-for-6 day at the plate, senior Francis Rapp (Baldwin, N.Y./Oceanside) set a new Bears single-game hits record as the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) baseball team avenged a 4-3 loss to Baruch three weeks ago with a 13-7 win on Tuesday afternoon to remain undefeated at American Legion Field.

Freshman Vincent Juliano (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) worked five innings in relief to earn his first collegiate victory on the mound and recently named Skyline Rookie of the Week Andrew Watters (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) closed out the win with his first collegiate save.

• Baruch scored first with a solo run in the first and two runs in the second, knocking six hits over the two frames and taking a 3-0 lead.
• The Bears responded with three runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game and never fell behind again. After loading the bases with one out, Jonathan Arroyo started the scoring for the Bears with a single, Michael Camerada followed with another single and Kevin Linitz drew a bases-loaded walk to knot the game at 3-all.
• After three in the second, St. Joseph's posted threes again in the third and fifth innings to take a 9-3 lead. In the third, the Bears knocked five straight hits, including doubles from Adam Schwartz and Arroyo. Linitz highlighted the fifth with a two-out, two-run single that knocked the Bearcat starter off the hill.
• The Bears increased their lead to 11-4 after seven innings and the Bearcats started to generate some offense in the eighth. Knocking four hits and drawing a walk to score three runs to close the gap to 11-7, Andrew Watters entered with two outs and runners at the corners in a save situation and picked up the final out and worked a scoreless ninth to close out the victory.

• Francis Rapp finished 6-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored and a double.
• Kevin Linitz was the top run producer with three RBI, batting 3-for-5 and scoring three times.
• Jim Kennedy (3-for-5) and Jonathan Arroyo (3-for-3) both knocked a trio of hits and drove in a pair of runs. Arroyo also knocked his first double of the season.
• Michael Camerada (2-for-4), Anthony DeFillippo (2-for-3), and John Condon (2-for-6) all knocked a pair of hits. DeFillippo scored three times and had a RBI, Camerada drove in a pair and scored once.

• Charlie Salvador tossed a scoreless inning in relief in the seventh allowing just one hit.
• Andrew Watters fired a four-out save, allowing two hits and no runs.
