LoPrinzi Named Skyline Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year

NEW YORK — After concluding his career with First Team Skyline All-Conference honors, Nicholas LoPrinzi (Howard Beach, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) has been named the Skyline Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year as the league office announced the Scholar-Athletes of the Year for the winter and spring sports earlier today.

LoPrinzi helped St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) to a 9-9 record in league play and a 14-19 mark overall, suffering eight losses by just one run.

The Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the first-team All-Conference performer who carries the highest grade point average for the semester in which the student-athlete competes. LoPrinzi was selected as the first-team catcher after batting .308 for the Bears, scoring 23 runs and driving in 29. He concluded his senior campaign on a 17-game reached base safely streak and defensively he committed just one error in 157 chances.

The recent SJC alumnus finished as the program leader in games played and started (154) and second all-time in at bats (525), hits (181) and runs batted in (113).
