Bunnicelli Named Skyline Baseball Rookie of the Week; Schwartz Placed on Honor Roll

NEW YORK — Tossing a complete game conference victory over Yeshiva last Friday, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) freshman right-hander C.J. Bunnicelli (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) was named Skyline Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week for April 16-21 announced by the league office yesterday.

Bunnicelli went all seven innings against the Maccabees allowing seven hits, two runs (one earned), and three walks while finishing one strikeout away from tying the Bears' record, fanning 10. The Bears swept Yeshiva posting 30 runs and 24 hits during the doubleheader to pick up their second and third Skyline victories of the season.

The award is the Bears' second weekly honor of the season and first Rookie of the Week accolade.

Also garnering recognition was junior infielder Adam Schwartz (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan Wagner) as he was named to the Skyline Weekly Honor Roll after batting .400 (8-for-20) on the week while driving in eight runs and scoring seven, highlighted by a 6-for-11 day against Yeshiva.

The Bears wrap up their Skyline slate with a doubleheader against the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday, April 28 beginning at 4 p.m. at the College of Staten Island.
