Brian Luebcke, a graduate of Msgr. McClancy H.S., East Elmhurst, was named the Skyline Conference’s Player of the Year as a member of the St. Joseph’s College Brooklyn, Clinton Hill, baseball team.

In the Bears’ inaugural season in the conference, Luebcke, a senior utility player and pitcher, was among the league leaders in nearly every hitting and pitching statistical category. He finished the year with a .389 batting average, seven home runs and 47 RBIs in 42 games while also pitching to a 7-2 record with 61 strikeouts.

He was also named First-Team All-Conference as both a position player and pitcher. He is the second player in program history to reach 100 hits as a batter and 100 strikeouts as a pitcher.
As a pitcher, he ended his Bears’ career with the best winning percentage (14-5) and lowest ERA (3.06) in team history.

St. Joe’s junior shortstop Francis Rapp and junior outfielder Michael Camerada were selected Second-Team All-Conference. The team captured third place in its first appearance in the Skyline Baseball Championship.
