Megafu Receives USCAA and AD3I Men's Basketball Player of the Week Awards

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – In recognition of his outstanding play in helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team to a 1-1 record at the University of Dallas Classic, sophomore Michael Megafu (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) men's basketball Player of the Week.

Megafu was the catalyst of the Bear offense averaging a double-double for the week, notching his second double-double of the season against the University of Dallas on Friday finishing with a team- and season-high 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field while corralling 15 rebounds. The sophomore concluded his week with a 16-point, 5-rebound effort against Austin College shooting an efficient 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from the floor as St. Joseph's evened up their record on the year at 2-2.

For the week, the forward stuffed the stat sheet averaging 17.0 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game, 2.0 blocks per game, 1.5 steals per game and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 57.1 percent (12-of-21) from the field over the two-game stretch.

Megafu earns the first accolade by a Bear this season and last year's AD3I Rookie of the Year and All-Independent First Team selection takes home the Association's Player of the Week honor for the third time in his career.

Megafu, an USCAA All-American Honorable Mention selection a year ago, takes home the Player of the Week accolade from the USCAA for the second time in his career. The sophomore was also named to the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) honor roll for his outstanding performance during the week.

St. Joseph's returns to the hardwood on Saturday, November 30th travelling to Virginia for a matchup against fellow USCAA member Southern Virginia at 2 p.m.
