Megafu Secures AD3I Male Student-Athlete of the Month Accolade

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sophomore Michael Megafu (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) was recognized by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) as its Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of November after leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team in scoring and rebounding during the month.

Megafu put up averages of 15.0 points per game and 8.8 boards per game helping lead the Bears to a 2-3 record during the opening month of the season. Last year's AD3I Rookie of the Year picked up where he left off last season scoring in double figures in all five games for St. Joseph's. The sophomore finished with two double-doubles including an 18-point, 15-rebound performance at the University of Dallas on November 22nd going 7-of-13 (53.8 percent) from the field while rejecting three shots on his way to earning AD3I and USCAA Player of the Week honors.

On November 16th Megafu helped lead the Bears to their first win of the season against Centenary College with 11 points and 10 caroms on 5-of-9 (55.6 percent) shooting. The forward concluded the month on a high note finishing with a season-high-tying 18 points on 7-of-12 (58.3 percent) shooting from the floor at USCAA foe Southern Virginia University.

Megafu finished the month shooting an efficient 54.7 percent from the floor, dishing out 1.4 assists per game, coming up with 1.8 steals per game and swatting away 2.4 shots per game to fill out the stat sheet.

The sophomore takes home Student-Athlete of the Month honors for the second time in his career having earned Student-Athlete of the Month in December of 2012. Megafu becomes the third St. Joseph's student-athlete to take home the monthly honor following junior Raul Urshela from men's soccer and sophomore Lauren GaNun from women's volleyball.
