Megafu Awarded USCAA Player of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Recognizing his outstanding performance on the hardwood, sophomore Michael Megafu (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) has been awarded the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Player of the Week after leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team in scoring during the week.

Megafu continued his strong sophomore season averaging 21.0 points per game on an impressive 65.9 percent (27-of-41) shooting and secured 9.7 boards per game as St. Joseph's went 2-1 during the week. The forward picked up a pair of double-doubles to increase his season total to 15, a category he ranks in the top five nationally.

The sophomore started the week off in a style as he posted 29 points and 10 rebounds as the Bears clinched their first HVIAC regular season title since 2009-10 against Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday. Megafu continued his excellence on the hardwood against streaking Staten Island finishing with 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting and notched nine caroms.

The forward capped off his week with a double-double at Culinary finishing with 17 points and 10 rebounds as St. Joseph's clinched an undefeated season in the HVIAC.

Megafu earns Player of the Week from the USCAA for the second time this season having won the award on November 26th. The sophomore is also a three-time AD3I Player of the Week on the year.

St. Joseph's (15-9) concludes their 2013-14 regular season with Senior Night against John Jay tonight at 7:30 p.m.
