Louison Tabbed AD3I Student-Athlete of the Month

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – In recognition of his outstanding performance during the month of January in helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team to a 5-3 record, junior David Louison (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) has been named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Male Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of January.

Louison led the team throughout the month in scoring averaging 21.2 points per game as St. Joseph's closed the month with three consecutive wins. The forward was a dominating presence on the block for the Bears as he shot an impressive 60.9 percent from the floor and corralled 10.0 rebounds per night during the month, finishing with five double-doubles.

Louison opened up the month scoring 30 points in two of the first three games after the turn of the calendar, including a 30-point, 9-rebound outing against Drew on January 4th. The junior would score his 1,000th career point against Brooklyn College finishing with 30 points on 12-of-16 shooting while securing 10 rebounds.

The two-time Player of the Week during the month picked up a pair of double-doubles against CUNYAC foes York College and Medgar Evers in back-to-back games. Against the Cardinals Louison poured in 28 points on 12-of-20 shooting and brought down 11 boards before following that up with a 27-point, 11-rebound affair at Medgar Evers on January 27th.

The junior continues to lead the Bears in scoring at 18.4 points per game and is shooting 54.5 percent from the field on the season.

Louison earns Student-Athlete of the Month for the third time in his career and joins teammate Michael Megafu as a recipient of the award this season with Megafu earning the nod in November.

St. Joseph's (15-9) concludes their regular season with Senior Night against John Jay College tonight at 7:30 p.m.
