Louison Crowned USCAA and AD3I Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team to a 3-0 record and their first Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Tournament championship since 2010, junior David Louison (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player of the Week.

Louison continued his double-double ways, finishing with three on the week to bring his season total to 16. The junior concluded the week averaging 17.7 points, 14.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.7 blocks per game, while shooting 53.5 percent from the floor.

The forward started off the week with a 12-point, 13-rebound outing on Senior Night against John Jay College, adding four blocks and three assists. Louison capped off the week with Tournament MVP honors at the HVIAC Tournament as he averaged 21.0 points, 15.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as the Bears defeated the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Vaughn College to claim the title. The junior saved his best performance of the week for the championship game against the Warriors, pouring in a game-high 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting and also secured a game-high 17 rebounds and dished out four assists in St. Joseph's 92-76 win.

Louison receives the USCAA weekly honor for the first time this season and takes home the AD3I award for the sixth time. The junior was also named to the d3hoops.com Team of the Week back on January 9th and was named the AD3I Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of January.

Louison joins frontcourt teammate Michael Megafu (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) as the lone Bears to earn Player of the Week honors. Megafu is a two-time USCAA Player of the Week and three-time recipient of the weekly award from AD3I. The sophomore has also been named the HVIAC Player of the Week twice on the season.

St. Joseph's (18-9) awaits the announcement of bids for the USCAA National Tournament on Tuesday, February 25th to see if they will be in the field for the second year in a row. The Bears come in ranked No. 12 in the latest Division I coaches' poll.
