O'Neill Awarded AD3I Men's Basketball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After a solid all-around week highlighted by Connecticut College/Coast Guard Invitational All-Tournament Team honors, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) junior guard Matt O'Neill (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) men's basketball Player of the Week.

O'Neill helped the Bears to a third-place finish at the Invitational recording his second 20-point game of the season, going 4-for-4 from behind the arc and dishing out a career-high eight assists in the consolation win over Coast Guard Academy.

Over the three-game week for St. Joseph's, O'Neill averaged 16.3 points per game, shot 42.1 percent (8-for-19) from three-point land and also added 5.3 steals, 4.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds per contest.

This is the second time in the junior's career receiving the AD3I award, last receiving it during his rookie campaign.

The Bears (6-3) take a short break for finals before returning to action on Thursday, December 18th making their Hill Center debut against sibling campus rivals St. Joseph's (Long Island) in the annual East vs. West rivalry doubleheader. The official grand opening ceremony for the brand new, state-of-the-art athletics facility will take place between both games with the women playing at 5:30 p.m. and the Bears seeking their third straight win over the Golden Eagles at 8 p.m.
