We bring back our popular summer feature giving you a more personal look at some of our student-athletes and staff members. Check back every Tuesday and Thursday for our next installment. (If any student-athletes would like to participate on a future spotlight, please e-mail amacapugay@sjcbears.com.)

Being a Bear...

Most memorable moment in a Bears/Lady Bears uniform…

It's been a couple moments, both individual and as a team. First was winning the HVIAC Championship in the 2013-2014 Basketball Season with my teammates. Second, was almost going undefeated at the Hill Center. Third, was the Senior Nights that I've been a part of from Rogo and Tommy, to Ian, Ortiz and Lugo, to Vern, Raul and Dave. Lastly, was getting my 1000th point with a dunk.

Funniest moment in practice/pre-game with Coach…

During my rookie season before the Pratt game, my coaches showed me an article with the kid that was competing with me for the HVIAC Rookie of the Year and told me that he was going to win it. It definitely got to me when I dunked on the kid on a fast break. (Sorry not Sorry)

Pre-game rituals or superstitions…

I pray during the national anthem and make the sign of the cross in the circle before the jump ball.

My pump up song before a game is…

Whatever the team listens to.

Favorite road trip so far…

All the trips were good; when you have teammates like mine, you'll understand why.

My goals for this season are to…

Just to have a better season than my previous three years, host a Skyline playoff game at the Hill Center and to win a Skyline Conference title. Individually, I want to just improve in every area that I can, and do whatever I can to help my team win.

When I found out The Hill Center was finally open, I…

I was screaming on the train and nearly dropped my phone on my way home.

Final thoughts…

Anything you'd like to share with all the rest of the Bears family …

The Bears family is really comprised of talented athletes who have devoted their time and efforts to not only be the students that we are, but also to be athletes. I know we don't really get that much recognition at this level, but it is extremely tough to be a student-athlete, and I appreciate all the efforts that everyone has been doing to raise the prestige of this school and get the name of St. Joe's on the map. We are all family, I love every one you guys and I hope that we continually build on the successes that we have experienced these past years and make our school proud. #BearWitnessSJC
