The Bear Facts

  • After crossing the century mark in a win over second place Sage two weeks ago, the Bears look to jump start their No. 2 Skyline offense that averaged less than 60 points in a pair of losses last week.
  • Despite posessing wins over the three teams in the league standings, the Bears still find themselves in seventh place, just outside of playoff contention. But a win today and a split of the season series would move the Bears into a tie for sixth with Mount Saint Vincent and one game behind fifth place with four more league games remaining.
  • In the earlier meeting vs. the Dolphins in November, senior Michael Megafu had a near double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds as the Bears erased a 10-point deficit, only to come up short in Riverdale 76-68.
  • Matt O'Neill leads the offense with a league third-best 18.2 points per game and a second-best 4.3 assists. He also leads the league with 3.2 thefts an outing pacing the team to a Skyline-best +3.95 turnover margin
  • Double-double machine Michael Megafu is tied for the Skyline lead with 11 so far and grabbs a league-best 11.4 boards, paired with a top-10 15.6 points a game. He also ranks second in the league in blocks with 2.3 rejections a game.
  • Last week's Skyline Player of the Week Jamir Archer rounds out three Bears in the top 10 in scoring with 13.6 points a game, shooting at a third best 55.3 percent clip.

Milestone Watch

  • 33: Points Megafu needs to reach 1,500 for his career
  • 11: Blocks Megafu needs to become the SJC all-time rejection leader.
  • 12: Steals O'Neill needs to become the SJC all-time theft king.

Dolphin Tales

  • Mount Saint Vincent enters tonight's game in the final playoff position in sixth place but as losers of three of their last four and four of their last six struggling with 2015 Skyline Rookie of the Year, leading rebounder and second-leading scorer Ammad Alkuladi (12.6 ppg/8.5 reb/5 dbl-dbls) seeing limited action over the stretch.
  • The Dolphins come off an overtime loss to Maritime last Tuesday, led by Jamir Ferebee's 16 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.
  • The 6-foot-4 guard Ferebee leads the Dolphins with 16.3 points (#6 in Skyline) and 5.9 rebounds a game. The sophomore finds his way to the line with 102 attempts this season and connects at a 79.4% rate.
  • Mike Mulligan adds 8.9 points and 6.1 rebounds a game and Trevor Johnson provides the top deep threat chipping in 8.1 points and connecting on 29 treys at a 37.7% clip.
  • Last week's Rookie of the Week Trevor Johnson contributes 8.1 ppg but has averaged 14.6 over his last 5 games.
