Men's Basketball Holds Free Youth Clinic at Saint Leo the Great Parish

LINCROFT, N.J. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team took some time out of their busy schedules between basketball, the end of the fall semester and getting ready for the holiday season by volunteering over the weekend to conduct a free basketball clinic at Saint Leo the Great parish in Lincroft, New Jersey.

The Bears along with head coach Joseph Cocozello gave up their Saturday to conduct four separate sessions for both boys and girls from grades 3 through 8, running through drills and helping with their fundamentals.

"The experience I feel was more satisfying than we could've thought going in," commented freshman forward Sebastien Etheart. "I love working with kids because it brings a good amount of joy to me but a great amount to them."

"To see the smiles on the children's faces made it absolutely worthwhile," added Cocozello, who is also a parishioner at Saint Leo the Great and helped coordinate the event. "For me personally to have our guys responsible for those smiles made it that much better! It was really a wonderful and enriching experience for all of us."

'Words cannot express how great Saturday was for our program and the kids," commented John Cizin, head lead of the Bill Grier Basketball League, an extra-curricular program open to all parishioners of Saint Leo the Great from grades 1 through 8. "The Bears did an excellent job and it could not have been any better."

For the players, it was a friendly reminder that basketball was more than wins and losses and the day proved to be a great team building experience.

"As a team, I think we did a great job furthering their development and actually impacted their basketball thought process. This also brought our team closer and allowed us to have a good time doing what we love with our own second family," concluded Etheart.
