PATCHOGUE, N.Y. — Freshman Stephane Etheart (Hollis Hills, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) scored 10 points off the bench as St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) endured a 71-54 road loss at sibling rivals St. Joseph's College (Long Island) on Tuesday evening.

  • The Golden Eagles broke away with a 10-0 spurt to open the second half, building a 20-point cushion.

How it Happened

  • Alec Wills opened the scoring with a layup to give the Bears their only lead of the game and  Kavan Meiner followed with a layup that tied the game at 4-all. But the Golden Eagles scored 12 unanswered with a trio of three-pointers and a three-point play to build a double-digit advantage that they carried into the intermission, 36-26.
  • Long Island scored the first 10 points of the second stanza before Stephane Etheart broke the drought nearly six minutes in and the Bears couldn't cut into the deficit.

  • Freshman Stephane Etheart led the Bears with 10 points off the bench, shooting 5-of-11, also grabbing three rebounds.
  • Senior Christian Giles netted seven points and handed out six assists to direct the offense.
  • Freshman Dimitri Sirakis also tallied seven points in a reserve role and hauled in three caroms.
