Urshela Tabbed AD3I Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Junior Raul Urshela (Orlando, Fla./Colonial) has been named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player of the Week after leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team to a win over Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) foe Webb Institute.

Urshela was the leader of the St. Joseph's offense as the Bears went 1-1 finishing the week with a team-high three goals and currently leads the team with six on the season. The forward scored his first goal of the week against fellow HVIAC member Vaughn College taking a rebound and firing it past the goalkeeper. Urshela concluded his week notching both goals for St. Joseph's in their 2-1 triumph over the Webbies including the game-winner early in the second half. The junior concluded the week leading the Bears with 14 shots and remains St. Joseph's leading scorer with his 12 points.

The award is the first earned by a Bear this season but is the second AD3I weekly honor bestowed on Urshela in his career. The junior was named to the AD3I All-Independent First Team both in his freshman and sophomore seasons and was selected AD3I Rookie of the Year as a freshman.

St. Joseph's returns to action tonight as they play at Berkeley in a HVIAC matchup at the Aviator Sports Complex looking for their second win in row. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
