Williams, Mano Earn AD3I and HVIAC Soccer Honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team earned two awards this past week, as Louis Williams (Albany, N.Y./Norcross) was tabbed as the Association of Division III Independents men's soccer Player of the Week, while Pandeli Mano (Bayside, N.Y./Bayside High School) was named as the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Conference (HVIAC) Rookie of the Week.

The junior midfielder Williams found the back of the net for the second time this season in St. Joseph's 5-4 win over defending HVIAC champion Albany Pharmacy on Saturday. The win marked the first time the Bears have defeated the Panthers in the all-time series and helped the Bears level their record at 3-3 on the year and 1-1 in HVIAC play. Williams was also named to the HVIAC Honor Roll for his efforts.

Mano came on as a reserve and scored his second collegiate goal in the Bears' win over Albany Pharmacy. The freshman's strike was a result of a great individual effort which gave St. Joseph's a two-goal advantage at the time.

It is the first time either Bear has received the honor and the first weekly honors for the men's soccer team this season.

Both Williams and Mano lead the Bears (3-3, 1-1 HVIAC) back to the pitch tonight when St. Joseph's hosts Webb in a HVIAC matchup at the Aviator Sports and Events Center starting at 6 p.m. That game will be followed by the women hosting USCAA rivals Briarcliffe at 8 p.m. Live stats for both games can be found on SJCBears.com.
