Goduadze, Urshela Tally Weekly Awards

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Two St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) men's soccer players were tabbed with player of the week honors this week.

Freshman Beka Goduadze (Tbilisi, Georgia/Lyceum "NK") was named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player of the Week and United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Player of the Week, while senior Raul Urshela (Orlando, Fla./Colonial) earned the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Player of the Week.

For Goduadze, these are the first two Player of the Week wins in his career and the first time a Bear has taken the USCAA honor this season. This is the first time this season and the second time in his career Urshela has earned HVIAC Player of the Week, and the second time this season a Bear has won the accolade.

Goduadze produced an impressive performance last week, as he netted four goals on five shots on goal for the Bears. His week was highlighted by his first career hat trick in a win over Medgar Evers.  The freshman leads the team with eight goals this season.

The senior notched three goals over three games this week to help St. Joseph's (6-6) to a 2-1 mark on the week. He scored two goals in a win over Medgar Evers and added an insurance goal in against Sarah Lawrence. He currently ranks second on the team with seven goals and increased his all-time leading goal total to 31.

Both Urshela and Goduadze return to the pitch in a crucial HVIAC game taking on Berkeley College Wednesday as part of a doubleheader with the women's soccer team at the Aviator Sports and Events Center. Start time is at 6:00 P.M.
