Men's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Draw With York (N.Y.)

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—Sophomore Pandeli Mano (Bayside, N.Y./Bayside HS) netted his first goal of the season as the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with York College (N.Y.) after two overtimes in non-conference action on Monday night at Aviator Field.

How It Happened

  • Pandeli Mano got the Bears on the board first in the 24th minute putting away loose ball in the box after a blocked shot that went up over the keeper.
  • The Bears maintained the pressure for most of the opening 45 keeping the ball in the York half of the field and earning a 7-3 shot advantage and 4-1 edge in corners.
  • Coming out of the break, the Cardinals scored the equalizer just 6:31 in Ezihie Chimereucheya's shot from the left side stopped by Nolan Parr, but the rebound falling on to the foot of Eric Herrerra for his first of the season.
  • The Cardinals continued to be the more aggressive team in the second half outshooting the Bears 9-1 in the period and Parr standing up to the test making five saves to preserve the tie.
  • The overtime sessions saw the Bears with the better of the scoring opportunities, including two close attempts from Vaso Vukosavovic and Beka Goduadze that just missed wide, but neither squad could net the golden goal nor put a shot on frame.

For the Bears (0-2-1)

  • Parr finished with a career-best seven saves in net.
  • Beka Goduadze fired three shots to lead St. Joseph's
  • Mano's goal was his fifth of his career.

For the Cardinals (0-4-1)

  • Eric Herrera and Luis Cordero led York with four shots apiece, with all Herrera's shots coming on goal.
  • Stefano Archangel made two saves over 109 minutes of relief action in goal to earn the tie.
