Men's Soccer Seizes Two-Goal Advantage at Maritime

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. — Cesar Ovideo (South Ozone Park, N.Y./Christ the King) and Beka Goduadze (Tbilisi, Georgia/Lyceum "NK") combined to give the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team a two-goal lead over Maritime College, but it wasn't enough as the Privateers bounced back for an 8-2 victory in a Skyline Conference tilt on Tuesday evening.

How It Happened

  • Oviedo scored less than two minutes in, capitalizing on a Privateer turnover, picking up a loose ball and slotting in it low left giving the Bears their first lead in a conference game this season.
  • Just over fifteen minutes later, Oviedo set up Goduadze with a touch pass to the center of the box, which he buried to increase the Bears lead to 2-0.
  • But Maritime would storm back to score four goals in the first half, outshooting the Bears 22-5 in the period, led by Parker Gallt's hat trick that gave them the lead for good.
  • The Privateers would tack on four more goals in the second stanza and finished with a 33-9 shot advantage.

For the Bears

  • Goduadze now has a team-leading five goals on the season and has found the back of the net in each of the last three games.
  • With a three-point effort, Oviedo now ranks second on the team in goals (3) and points (7).
  • Pandeli Mano fired three shots, all coming on goal.
  • Parr finished with eight saves in net.

For the Privateers

  • Gallt recorded his first hat trick of the season and scored the game-winning goal in the 38th minute leading six different goal scorers.
