Men's Soccer Matches Season High Tally in Skyline Game at Yeshiva

TEANECK, N.J. — Cesar Ovideo (South Ozone Park, N.Y./Christ the King) scored a pair of goals and Beka Goduadze (Tbilisi, Georgia/Lyceum "NK") scored for the fourth straight game, but St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team suffered a 10-3 setback to Yeshiva University in a Skyline Conference matchup on Friday afternoon.

The Basics

  • Final Score: Yeshiva 10, St. Joseph's 3
  • Records: Yeshiva (5-5-1, 4-1-1 Skyline), St. Joseph's (0-10-2, 0-7-1 Skyline)
  • Location: Teaneck, N.J.
  • Field: Votee Park

How It Happened

  • The Maccabees drew first blood scoring just over five minutes in on a Daniel Amar goal. Aaron Braun and Juan Cotton added tallies in the 20th and 25th minutes to give Yeshiva a 3-0 advantage.
  • Itamar Ben David then turned a hat trick in under five minutes to give Yeshiva a 6-0 at the intermission.
  • St. Joseph's struck quickly coming out of the lockers earning a penalty kick, which Goduadze calmly buried to put the Bears on board.
  • But any hopes for a Bears comeback were erased by four straight goals from Yeshiva, before Ovideo converted two breakaway attempts in the final 10 minutes to cut into the final deficit.

For the Bears

  • Goduadze is now a perfect 3-for-3 in penalty kick attempts and has a team-leading six goals on the season.
  • Oviedo four points and two goals are a career high and he has now found the back of the net in three straight games.
  • The three goals matched a season high set vs. Sarah Lawrence last Saturday.
  • Parr finished with nine saves, one shy of his career best.

For the Maccabees

  • Ben David scored four goals, including the game-winner, and had an assist.
  • Daniel Amar led the team with seven shots and finished with two goals and an assist.
  • Aaron Braun handed out three assists and scored a goal in 36 minutes of action.
