PATCHOGUE, N.Y. — After a scoreless draw in the first half, Farmingdale State College (4-5, 1-1 Skyline) used a pair of goals to hand the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team (3-8, 1-2 Skyline) a 2-0 Skyline Conference defeat in the nightcap of a Bears soccer doubleheader at the SJC Outdoor Field Complex on Saturday night.

How It Happened

The Bears played the Rams to a scoreless first half. The navy and gray had a good scoring chance in the 13th minute with Mateusz Georges (Brooklyn, N.Y./New Utrecht) breaking free for a look at an empty net, but his shot slipped just left of the goal. Farmingdale had a great opportunity to get on the board late in the period with two shots from close range, the first hitting the crossbar and the ensuing rebound shot stuffed by Bears' sophomore Alejandro Oliveros (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grover Cleveland). The teams were vying for an advantage but neither could break the tie with St Joes' three shots on goal and Farmingdale shooting just one shot on goal.

St. Joseph's came out of the lockers the aggressors firing three shots in just the first 10 minutes,  including a great set piece off a corner kick with Thomas Mastoras (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) finding the head of Joshua De La Cruz (Howard Beach, N.Y./Bayside) that prompted a terrific save by Ram netminder Scott Flores to preserve the scoreless deadlock.

The Rams would get on the board in the 63rd minute with Kyle Darden finishing a cross from William Grajales. Farmingdale scored an insurance goal in the 77th minute with Grajales finding Alex Castano for a one-touch blast and the Bears were unable to get a ball into the back of the cage as Flores finished with five saves.
