Men’s Soccer Stymied by Medgar Evers

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team dropped their second-consecutive match, falling to Medgar Evers College, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon from the campus of Kingsborough Community College.

How it Happened

The Bears found opportunities to score early but shots by Thomas Mastoras (Bayside, N.Y./Francis Lewis) and Mateusz Georges (Brooklyn, N.Y./New Utrecht) went wide of the goal. Medgar Evers scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute and followed it up with another five minutes later to go up 2-0 heading into halftime.

The Bears began the second half looking to reduce their deficit. Sophomore midfielder Joseph Sepulveda (East Elmhurst, N.Y./Bayside) fired off four shots in the first 12 minutes of the period. The Cougars increased their lead to 3-0 in the 69th minute. Sepulveda and Mastoras combined for three more shots before the final whistle.
