Men’s Soccer Concludes Non-Conference Slate with Double-OT Road Draw to St. Elizabeth

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team (2-6-1) wrapped up their non-conference schedule with a 2-2, double-overtime draw against the College of St. Elizabeth (2-5-1) on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened

The Bears were reduced to ten men early, following a sixth-minute red card. Despite being down a man, the Bears found the back of the net in the 29th minute when Joseph Sepulveda (East Elmhurst, N.Y./Bayside) scored on a through ball from Joao Gavilanes' (Fresh Meadows, N.Y./Francis Lewis). The Bears took the 1-0 advantage into the half.

The second half began with the Eagles tying the game at 1-all less than three minutes into the new period. The Bears responded five minutes later as Gavilanes played a corner kick into the 18-yard box finding Mohamed Ndiaye Jr. (Senegal, West Africa/Washington Irving) for the score to retake the lead, 2-1. The Bears remained on top for most of the half and maintained an 11-7 shot edge before the Eagles drew even with less than five minutes in regulation to force overtime.
