Men’s Tennis Opens Season with Loss to Sarah Lawrence
BRONXVILLE, NY – St. Joseph's men's tennis began their 2012 season with a familiar foe, HVMAC member Sarah Lawrence. The Bears' Stephane Antui (Queens, NY/Monsignor McClancy) took the match at first singles, but that would be St. Joseph's only victory in an 8-1 loss to the Gryphons.
Antui, a junior rookie, won his first ever match at St. Joseph's 10-3 over the Gryphons' Nate Currier, in what was the highlight of the Bears' season opener.
Muhammad Ali Bhatti (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) came up short at second singles 10-3 and lost the tightest battle of the afternoon 10-5 at second doubles with partner Mohamad El Amri.
The Bears will play their home opener against Albertus Magnus on April 5th in Flushing, NY at the National Tennis Center.
