Bears Tennis Stonewalled by Sarah Lawrence

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 defeat to Sarah Lawrence College on Thursday afternoon in Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference play.

The Bears (0-7, 0-3 HVMAC) were kept off the scoreboard for the fifth straight game by the Gryphons (5-6, 4-1 HVMAC) who moved into first atop the league standings.

Sarah Lawrence cruised through doubles play surrendering one game to the Bears as Jeff Bonowicz (Whitestone, NY/Holy Cross) and Kyle Johnson (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook Central) fell at No. 1 doubles.

Bonowicz would secure one of the two games for the Bears in singles play at No. 1 singles and Dickson Tan (Brooklyn, NY/East-West School of International Studies) also avoided a suffering a shutout loss also falling 10-1 in his first match of the season playing up at No. 4 singles.

The Bears resume HVMAC play traveling to the Culinary Institute of America on Sunday, April 28th for a league match starting at 1 p.m.
