Men's Tennis Opens 2014 Season With Loss to Merchant Marine

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's tennis team opened their 2014 season with a 9-0 setback to the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday afternoon.

St. Joseph's falls to 0-1 on the season, while Merchant Marine improves to 3-2.

The Bears managed to capture one game in singles play with senior Nick Orlando (Brooklyn, N.Y./Christ the King) taking one game at No. 3 singles before falling 10-1.

In doubles play, junior newcomer Eric Kramer (Glendale, N.Y./Christ the King) and junior Dickson Tan (Brooklyn, N.Y./East-West School of International Studies) managed to scratch out the Bears lone doubles point at No. 3 doubles before succumbing 8-1.

St. Joseph's looks to pick up their first victory of the season as they travel to Lehman College on Thursday, April 3rd for a 4 p.m. first serve.
