Falcons Soar Past Men's Tennis

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback to Albertus Magnus College on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action in Celentano Courts.

The Bears (0-3) received a strong effort at No. 5 singles from senior Javier Bosque (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) who pushed his opponent to the limit in the opening set before falling 7-5, 6-1. Sophomore Nolan Parr (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook Central) took four games off his No. 4 singles opponent in a 6-3, 6-1 defeat and teamed up with fellow sophomore Kyle Johnson (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook Central) to secure the lone games in doubles play in a 8-2 loss.

Albertus Magnus improves to 5-3 on the season and are winners of four of their last five. The Bears will look to avenge their loss hosting the Falcons Saturday, April 12 at the US National Tennis Center in their 2014 home opener.

St. Joseph's returns to the courts on Wednesday, April 9 facing borough rivals Brooklyn College starting at 4:30 p.m.
