FRESH MEADOWS, N.Y. – Senior Nick Orlando (Brooklyn, N.Y./Christ the King) held on for his first singles victory of the season, but the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to John Jay College at the Cunningham Park Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.

John Jay (3-10) raced out to a lead sweeping the doubles contests dropping one game in all three matches.

Orlando won his opening set in convincing fashion, 6-2, before his No. 5 singles opponent Marco Guzman captured the second set, 1-6. In the super-tiebreaker, Orlando avenged two previous close defeats in super-tiebreakers and prevailed 8-6 to secure the lone point for the Bears.

St. Joseph's (0-8) will close out the regular season with four straight Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matches returning to the courts on Sunday, April 27th hosting The Culinary Institute of America at the USTA National Tennis Center starting at 7 p.m.
