Parr Garners All-Conference Recognition From HVIAC

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Sophomore Nolan Parr (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook Central HS) was named to the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) All-Conference Team after helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's tennis team to its most wins since 2010 and a third place finish in the season-ending HVIAC Championships.

Parr, also a member of the men's soccer team, had a strong season for the Bears going 5-8 in both singles play and 6-8 in doubles action this season after going winless a year ago in his first year ever playing tennis. The sophomore started off the 2014 season slowly, dropping his first six doubles and singles matches of the year. However, that would all change on April 27th with his hard work paid off versus Culinary as he picked up his first collegiate win at No. 4 singles before teaming up with fellow sophomore Kyle Johnson (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook Central HS) to win at No. 2 doubles for his first ever doubles triumph.

Parr found his groove and rattled off a school-record eight straight wins from the matchup against the Steels to May 1st versus Vaughn, winning four matches at No. 4 singles and teamed up with Johnson to take home four wins at No. 2 doubles. Parr capped off one of the best seasons in St. Joseph's history by joining up with Johnson to finish runner up in the No. 2 doubles competition at the HVIAC Championships and also was a semifinalist at No. 5 singles.
