Devine Dunn Victorious as Men’s Tennis Drops Clinton Hill Battle With Pratt

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Sophomore Sean Devine Dunn (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) secured his first collegiate singles win, but the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's tennis team lost to neighborhood rivals Pratt Institute, 6-3, in a non-conference match at the Pratt Activities and Resource Center on Wednesday evening.

Devine Dunn prevailed in his No. 5 singles match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Pratt defaulted the matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles to add two points to the Bears.

After dropping their opening sets at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, senior Denise Trerotola (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) and freshman Darrius Thompson (Brooklyn, N.Y./High School for Public Service) both rallied to force a deciding third set. But both comeback bids to secure the deciding points would fall short. Trerotola fell 7-6, 2-6, 10-6 and Thompson succumbed 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.

St. Joseph's (1-10) has a day off before wrapping up their conference schedule hosting Purchase College in a Skyline match on Friday, April 26 starting at noon at the USTA National Tennis Center.
